Why spoil a good banana smoothie?

A banana smoothie shouldn’t have kale in it. I don’t know if you’ve noticed (I certainly have) but every healthy smoothie recipe has kale or spinach or something green in it (yuck!) Why do people keep doing this? I like kale but I don’t want it in my smoothie, what would I do that for? Spinach is also good but not with strawberries or plums. I first noticed this in my nutri-bullet recipe book, it’s like they are trying to add more nutrients but it doesn’t matter if it doesn’t taste nice because it’s kale and it’s good for you. Excuse me but I want a tasty smoothie not a disgusting one. That being said, I haven’t tried one of these green smoothies yet but I know I won’t like it.

Avocado with banana?

Yes! Avocado and banana go well together, even though avocado is green and also goes on salads (like kale) you can also have it as a snack or on toast so it’s fine in a smoothie. I made this simple smoothie recipe after I went on my first ever outside jog/power walk. Okay it was meant to be a 2 mile jog but it ended up being a power walk with small intervals of jogging, nonetheless I was still proud of myself and so was my new Nike app. Anyway I was a bit peckish so I thought banana is good because it’s filling and avocado is ‘good fat’ so win win.

You’ll also notice that I didn’t put so much avocado in that it turned green otherwise I wouldn’t have drank it because I’m silly and can’t drink a green smoothie.

The Smoothie

So in my nutri-bullet (you really should get one) I added a banana, half an avocado and some banana flavoured¬†moo milk. It is my all time favourite milk for smoothies and it’s only 1% fat. It makes every smoothie taste divine. So after a quick whiz in my blender the smoothie was created and it was delicious. This smoothie is so good I was thinking about giving it it’s own name. The Avana Smoothie?

Avocado and Banana Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1 Large Banana
  • Half an Avocado
  • 1 Cup of Banana Flavoured Moo Milk

Instructions

  1. In the blender add the banana, avocado and moo milk.
  2. Blitz for a minute until smooth.
  3. Serve in a glass.

Notes

Ordinary milk will work too.
