Slimming World: What to Expect at Your First Group Session

Getting yourself motivated enough to go to a Slimming World group is probably the hardest part. It is too easy to put it off and talk yourself out of it. Take a friend with you and join together so you don’t feel like a loner.

There are so many Slimming World groups that there will definitely be one nearby. Have a look on their website, they’ve got a nifty tool to find your closest group. You can just turn up because you don’t have to book and they are very welcoming.

Your First Slimming World Session

Once you get to your session, the consultant will have a table set up for the newbies. They are really friendly and easy to talk to so don’t worry. The consultant will talk you through everything and at first it might seem a lot of information to take in. It does sink in and it becomes second nature. Once the consultant has finished explaining everything you pay for your membership. Membership is £10 to join and £4.95 per session so £14.95 on your first session.

You get your membership card and a couple of books to get you started. Next you get weighed but this is private so only you and the consultant will know how much you weigh.

Slimming World Journey

You then join the rest of the group and your consultant will chat about some of the slimming world range of foods. The tomato and basil soup is delicious. They will also go through every one individually to see how much weight they’ve lost/gained in the previous week. If you don’t want them to tell everyone then they will be discreet.

Overall it is very positive and enjoyable.

The Ins and Outs

So an average day consists of as many free foods as you want and these include:

  • Fruit
  • Vegetables
  • Fish
  • Lean meat and poultry
  • Vegetable proteins/meat replacement
  • Dairy products
  • Eggs
  • Rice, pasta and grains
  • Beans, peas and lentils

As well as free foods you can have 1 of each of the healthy extra categories(A and B). A is milk or cheese and B is Fibre/nutritious foods like bread or nuts etc. You can also have up to 15 syns a day! At first it might take a while to get your head around it but it starts to make sense.
