2017 is going to be a pretty big year for TNP. Recording of their sophomore EP has already begun and if their previous EP is anything to go off, it’s going to be awesome. In this exclusive interview, we find out the secret behind their mysterious band name and which bands have influenced their infectious music.

Q1: Tell me about yourselves and the story behind the name of the band?

Ian:  I’m Ian and I sing and play guitar.
Joe: I’m Joe and I play bass, do back up vocals and like long walks on the beach.
Jesus: I play drums.
Ian: The band name came from a bad time in my life that when I was writing a bunch of acoustic songs. We decided we wanted an image of something that would make you feel better but still be kind of dark and came up with The Nightmare Police.

Q2: Which bands have influenced you most?

Ian: Alkaline Trio, Saves The Day, Paramore, Blink-182, New Found Glory, Midtown, The Movielife. There’s so many; it’s hard to pin down a small number.
Joe: Saves The Day, Paramore, Blink-182. It’s hard to pick bands I like a lot of music. Atmosphere is in there somewhere. Jimmy Eat World, The Killers, Brand New, Taking Back Sunday. Even The Offspring.
Jesus: Bayside, Alkaline Trio, Blink-182, NOFX and a bunch of others.

Q3: What’s your favourite song to perform?

Jesus: I really enjoy Where Were You/Villain and a lot of the new songs.
Joe: My favorite song to perform is Where Were You but basically all of the new stuff. There are songs we haven’t played yet that I already know I’m going to love playing.
Ian: I love playing Let The Curtain Rise, we don’t play it that often but when we do I get so into it. One of my favorites off the first EP.

Q4: What are you most excited about this year?

Joe: I’m looking forward to everything surrounding the release of this new album. Finishing recording, hearing it for the first time, shooting a new music video.
Jesus: Writing and recording the new album is the most exciting thing for me this year.
Ian: Seeing the response to our new album and finishing it up.

Q5: Finally but most importantly, what would be your ultimate pizza?

Ian: Buffalo Chicken Pizza for realz.
Joe: Pizza is a tough question cause I usually get two slices. Black olives and mushrooms is my classic favorite but I also never turn down a Chicken Parm slice from Don Jono’s.
Jesus: Love that Supreme Pizza.
